Keep the control iPad awake
When you run the control panel on an iPad, iOS can quietly suspend Safari if the screen locks, another app interrupts, or the tab moves to the background. That cuts the microphone and drops the connection — often with no error on our side. The stream may look fine for the first few minutes, then go quiet until someone notices.
These steps make that much less likely. They are especially useful when the iPad is plugged into the sound system and left unattended at the desk.
1. Add Breeze to the Home Screen
Section titled “1. Add Breeze to the Home Screen”Standalone Home Screen apps are far less likely to be suspended than a Safari tab.
- Open the control panel in Safari (not Chrome or another browser).
- Tap the Share icon.
- Choose Add to Home Screen, then Add.
- Always launch Breeze from that Home Screen icon for services — not from a bookmark or an ordinary Safari tab.
2. Use Guided Access
Section titled “2. Use Guided Access”Guided Access locks the iPad to a single app, keeps the screen on, and blocks notifications, Control Centre, and app switching.
- Open Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access and turn Guided Access on.
- Turn on Accessibility Shortcut so a triple-click starts and ends Guided Access.
- Open Breeze from the Home Screen icon and sign in as usual.
- Triple-click the side button (or Home button on older iPads) to start Guided Access.
- Tap Start. Leave Guided Access on for the whole service.
To end Guided Access after the service, triple-click again and enter your Guided Access passcode.
3. Disable auto-lock and keep power connected
Section titled “3. Disable auto-lock and keep power connected”- During services, set Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock to Never (or the longest option available).
- Keep the iPad plugged in so battery saving does not kick in mid-service.
Remember to restore a sensible auto-lock setting afterwards if this is a shared or personal device.
If the stream still stops
Section titled “If the stream still stops”Open Support chat in the control panel straight away — do not wait until after the service. It can help in real time while the issue is happening. See Support chat.
If chat is not available, use Report A Problem in the sidebar to log it for later.
